Çağ Erçağ

Çağ Erçağ entered the Hacettepe University State Conservatory in 1986 and graduated with honors as a student of Jozsef Györffy and Prof. Doğan Cangal. Throughout his education he gave concerts with the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra in France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Egypt and many other countries, and had the opportunity to attend the master class of Lluís Claret.

Erçağ has taken the stage as a soloist, in recitals and in chamber music together with artists such as Fazıl Say, Ayla Erduran, Ayşegül Sarıca, Robert Cohen, Julian Lloyd Webber, Gerhard Schulz, Valentin Erben, Alexander Rudin, Daniel Grosgurin, Misha Maisky and Yo-Yo Ma.

In 2003 he was appointed as solo cellist of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra.

Together with the Borusan Quartet, whose musical advisor is Gerhard Schulz of the Alban Berg Quartet, they attended the masterclasses of Maxim Vengerov, Joshua Epstein and the Juilliard Quartet. In May 2010, they were deemed worthy of the “Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year” award at the Andantemagazine Classical Music Awards, known today as the Donizetti Awards. They also stood out among 88 ensembles to win the gold medal at the 2010 ICMEC International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition (USA) and took the stage at Weill Recital Hall.

Erçağ gave concerts with the Borusan Quartet in many countries such as North America, Europe and Japan.

Erçağ received the “String Instruments Artist of the Year” award at the 2014 Donizetti Awards.
