Biography
Keser, who began his double bass education in 1999 with Refik HacıbeyoÄŸlu at the Hacettepe University State Conservatory, studied in 2009/2010 with Prof. Thomas Martin, Prof. Catalin Rotaru, Prof. Miloslav Jelinek, Prof. Hiroshi Ikematsu, François Rabbath, Joel Quarrington, Boguslaw Furtok, Ekkehard Beringer and Prof. Barry Green at master classes and festivals held in Kloster Michaelstein, Germany, in Brno, Czech Republic, and in Wroclaw, Poland. In 2009, through Anadolu University’s Erasmus project, he studied with Prof. Peter Kubina at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary and earned an honor certificate. During the same period he took part in many concerts in Hungary with the Hungarian National Philharmonic conducted by Zoltan Kocisis and the Budafoki Dohnanyi Zenekar. In 2010 he won first place in the Yamaha String Instruments Competition held at the Anadolu University State Conservatory and graduated with high honors in the same year. Between 2011 and 2019 he served as a double bass artist in the Eskisehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra. Taking part in Bass 2012 Copenhagen in 2012, Keser had the opportunity to study with Prof. Duncan McTier, Prof. Michael Klinghoffer and Prof. Jeff Bradetich in the master classes held. In 2014 he attended the master classes given by Prof. Bozo Paradzik in Mersin and Sion. In 2018 he graduated from the Master’s Program of the Anadolu University State Conservatory. In 2019/2022 and 2024 he had the opportunity to study with Prof. Klaus Trumpf, Prof. Volkan Orhon, pianist Asst. Prof. Dr. Senka Simonovic and Asst. Prof. Dr. Onur Özkaya at the Istanbul International Double Bass Master Classes. Keser, who in 2019 began the Proficiency in Art program at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory with Asst. Prof. Dr. Onur Özkaya, completed the program in 2023. Since 2018 he has taught at the Anadolu University State Conservatory, and since 2024 at the University of Music and Fine Arts.
Orhan Mert Keser continues his work at the Anadolu University State Conservatory in Eskisehir, at the University of Music and Fine Arts in Ankara, and with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra in Istanbul.
